Leveling up from a mediocre third party platform
Athalos currently relies on a third-party connectivity management platform to handle their extensive inventory of international SIMs. However, this solution doesn't adequately meet the needs of the company and its users. As a result, Athalos intends to develop its own white-label platform, enabling various stakeholders to efficiently manage their SIMs. And this is an opportunity to elevate the experience for the company and its users.

Various stakeholders are having difficulties navigating through the platform
Initially, the connectivity management platform was overloaded with technical jargon, appearing primarily tailored to tech-savvy telecom developer audience. This led to confusion and a vague user experience for various stakeholders. Furthermore, Athalos intends to utilize this platform both internally for their own management needs and externally for their user base
The initial third-party platform
Managing SIMs was unclear
Designing a dynamic connectivity management platform
I conducted research and stakeholder interviews to gain insight into the diverse requirements across different user groups. Through multiple brainstorming sessions, our team decided to develop a platform capable of adapting to individual users, recognizing that each stakeholder has unique needs and expectations

Early wireframes of the project
Showing the information that matters
The OneWorldNumber home screen displays information that matters to the user. Through guerilla research involving various stakeholders, I've identified specific requirements for each user group. Consequently, I've designed a platform tailored uniquely to each user's needs.
Easy SIM management and Overview
The SIM management screen is now straightforward and user-friendly. Initially, this screen was cluttered with unnecessary information and had a confusing workflow. To adress this, I've redesigned it to enhance visual hierarchy, streamline processes, and simplify the overall task flow.
Get notified at critical moments and customize your notifications
By notifying users, we keep users informed in real-time, highlight important updates, and simplify task management. They reduce cognitive load by directing attention to critical actions, enhance engagement through personalized alerts, and ultimately create a smoother, more efficient user experience
I’ve designed the MVP but unfortunately couldn’t proceed further due to a lack of funding.
During the design of multiple iterations I've discovered the following:
Stakeholder feedback
Positive feedback, indicating that stakeholders found the new design easier and more satisfying to use
User Testing
Succesful runs of task testing, suggesting that the new design was succesful in solving the initial problems
My process wasn't perfect, this is what I learned
Developing Strategic Thinking
I tied UX work to product growth and user retention. I learned to think beyond usability by focusing on impact, outcomes, and value.
Resilience and Adaptability
I navigated chaos, ambiguity, and last-minute changes. I learned how to stay flexible, calm, and solution-focused no matter what.
Growth Through Pressure
I was stretched every day and often outside my comfort zone. I learned more in months than most roles would teach in years and became a stronger designer because of it.
Communicating Design Decisions
I presented my work to non-designers and defended it constructively. I learned how to articulate design choices with confidence and clarity.
I worked in a startup with limited time, resources, and budget.
I handled everything from research and wireframing to UI design and testing while navigating tight deadlines and shifting priorities. I learned how to be resourceful, focus on what truly matters, and take ownership of the entire design process in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
